Steel Scale Waste as a Heterogeneous Fenton-like Catalyst for the Treatment of Landfill Leachate

Sustainable industrial processes are essential for better economic growths and the conservation of environment. Steel scale waste (SSW) is a byproduct steel production containing oxides in large quantity; presently, it mainly disposed off to landfill. However, being rich iron source, appears attractive based on Fenton technology that catalyzed by species. This study originates from idea exploiting (steel waste) be used treatment liquid waste, perspective more sustainable within circular economy. Herein, we have employed as heterogeneous Fenton-like catalyst landfill leachate, changing its profile reagent. To best our knowledge, this first attempt utilize leachate. At mild conditions, SSW successfully removed about 75% recalcitrant organic loading highlighted promising material heavily polluted wastewater streams. These findings appear extremely important economy because produced huge quantities could effectively highly process.
